Daniel has been teaching mathematics since 2007 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a special focus on cognitive and developmental Psychology. He has taught a variety of secondary mathematics courses ranging from seventh-grade ESL to Pre-AP Algebra II.

He trained at the University of Houston-Downtown in the Teacher Quality Leadership Program from 2012 to 2014. After becoming the Teacher of the Year at Killough Middle School in 2015, he transitioned into teaching Algebra II at Alief Early College High School.

Daniel participated in the original cohort of the Rice University-ConocoPhillips Applied Mathematics Program (AMP!). He is also a curriculum developer for the Rice University's R-STEM department, helping to incorporate inquiry based learning into campuses around the Houston area.

In addition to what he does in the classroom, Daniel has been the sponsor of the Chess Club at the Killough Middle School and Alief Early College High School campuses, the piano accompanist for Solo and Ensemble UIL competitions and is the Junior Class sponsor.
