With over 10 years of experience, Angel Hicks is currently serving as a seventh-grade math teacher at McAuliffe Middle School Houston, Texas. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston.
Angel is known for her ability to transform math instruction through data-driven strategies, student-centered learning and a classroom culture that values critical thinking and collaboration. Outside the classroom, she creates original math raps on her YouTube channel that make complex concepts fun, relatable and unforgettable. Her videos support students beyond the school day and have become a go-to resource for parents and teachers alike.
On a campus where seventh grade math is a key focus, Angel is Math Department Head, Team Lead and Master Teacher. She is also an active member of the Campus Planning Advisory Committee and was selected to participate in the FBISD Board Leadership Academy and the FBISD Aspiring Instructional Coach Cadre.
In addition to her work as an educator, Angel also serves as a Girl Scouts troop leader and treasurer and represents both parent and teacher perspectives on campus planning advisory committees.
