Welcome to the Community Relations Web site of the ConocoPhillips San Francisco Refinery.
History
The Refinery
Built in Rodeo, Calif., in 1896, the ConocoPhillips San Francisco refinery (SFR) was the first major oil refinery in the Bay Area, occupying only 22 acres and processing approximately 1,600 bar¬rels of crude oil per day. Acquired by ConocoPhillips in August 2002, the refinery presently covers about 1,100 acres and employs over 450 skilled workers and over 200 daily contractors.
Community
An Integral Part of the Community
We take great pride in partnering with local community groups to improve the quality of life we all enjoy. Our community outreach programs and organizations committed to serving the needs of young people in our community, and we are particularly passionate about supporting education.
Central to our involvement is a commitment to service, especially in the areas of youth and education. Our charity golf tournament raises more than $100,000 annually for the John Swett High School Careers Academy. The Bayo Vista Children’s Holiday Party provides, at no cost, precious holiday memories of gifts, treats and a visit with Santa. Our unique partnership with several other local refineries and the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties created the “Refinery Food Run,” which generated almost $50,000 and over a ton of food for neighbors in need.
