Mr. Lance was appointed executive chairman of the board of directors in September 2026, having served as chairman and chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips since May 2012.

Mr. Lance previously served in leadership roles as senior vice president, Exploration and Production—International; president, Exploration and Production—Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East; senior vice president, Technology; and senior vice president, Technology and Major Projects.

Mr. Lance serves on the board of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and as a trustee of both the George and Barbara Bush Foundation and PGA Reach. He is also chair of the National Petroleum Council, vice chair of the board of directors for the Greater Houston Partnership, and former chairman of the American Petroleum Institute.
