Shannon Kinney is senior vice president, Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for ConocoPhillips.

Shannon and her team provide oversight on legal matters, corporate governance and compliance issues; counsel the company on reducing risk; serve as advocates for the company and advise on corporate strategy and business plans. Additionally, she provides overall guidance for the company’s global security, communications, brand, charitable investments and corporate events functions.

She has more than 20 years of experience working in corporate securities and governance, shareholder engagement, mergers and acquisitions, global compliance and ethics, and sustainability. Shannon returned to ConocoPhillips in 2026, having served as executive vice president, chief administrative officer, general counsel and corporate secretary at Chord Energy since 2023. She previously held roles of increasing responsibility at ConocoPhillips from 2012 through 2023, most recently serving as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary and, earlier in her career, held roles at TPC Group, Bracewell LLP and Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP.

She currently serves on the boards of Children’s Museum Houston, Spindletop Community Impact Partners and Texas General Counsel Forum. She also serves on the Energy Advisory Board at the University of Houston. She previously served on the boards of Arms Wide Adoption Services and the Society for Corporate Governance.

Shannon graduated from The University of Texas in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree and earned her juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from South Texas College of Law. She is a member of the state bars of Texas and New York.
