Math Education

Math Teacher of the Month

ConocoPhillips and the local professional baseball team, the Houston Astros, have launched a math teacher of the month recognition program to honor leading math teachers during the baseball season.

"The math teacher of the month program is just another way that we are showing our commitment to math education," said Ed Burke, manager, Brand and Community Relations. "Teachers are often not recognized for the great work that they do in the classroom, and we wanted to change that."

Recognizing and Rewarding Houston-area Teachers

Winning teachers receive a number of awards from ConocoPhillips and the Houston Astros, including pre-game recognition, game tickets, a school appearance by an Astros player, a donation to the teacher's school district and a gift card for the purchase of classroom supplies. At the end of the season, one of the six winning teachers is randomly selected to receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Houston Astros spring training in Florida.
