With no recordable incidents, the ConocoPhillips Australia's downstream operations team successfully completed scheduled maintenance on Train 2 at Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), positioning the Gladstone facility for continued safe and reliable performance.

This planned maintenance temporarily lowers production so teams can safely inspect equipment and complete targeted repairs and upgrades. The work helps maintain asset integrity and operational reliability.

The event brought together an average workforce of more than 153 people, including site leadership, operations teams and third-party subcontractors. Together, they safely completed approximately 9,895 hours of work before, during and after the event, delivering critical maintenance and equipment upgrades.

Over a 10-day timespan, teams completed a broad scope of work designed to maintain reliability and address emerging risks, including:

  • Replacing two gas generators and one fin fan shaft
  • Completing preventive and corrective maintenance on turbomachinery
  • Advancing "Balance of Plant" work, including actuator replacements and overhauls
  • Delivering control system upgrades and obsolescence work
  • Completing asset integrity inspections and fabric maintenance repairs

In addition to the planned scope, teams also delivered numerous corrective maintenance and emergent work activities, helping to resolve issues proactively.

Australia Pacific LNG Pty Limited is an incorporated joint venture between ConocoPhillips Australia, Origin Energy Limited and Sinopec Australia Pty Limited. ConocoPhillips Australia operates the joint venture’s two-train downstream LNG facility on Curtis Island in Queensland, where coal seam gas from the Surat and Bowen basins is converted into liquefied natural gas.

APLNG's two LNG trains convert natural gas into a super-cooled liquid for export. Each train has a nameplate production capacity of 4.5 MTPA and uses the ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade® Process.
