Did you know that the Texas Gulf Coast is a critical spot for migratory birds in the U.S. and Canada? Understanding these species and teaching the next generation about them is critical to their survival.

The company supports efforts by the Smithsonian to collect connectivity information for several bird species that follow a migratory flyway aligned with the company’s areas of operation. Through this project, Smithsonian scientists have tested new technologies, educated hundreds of schoolchildren, and collected critical data that will help experts design conservation solutions to save species.

In this video, made possible with the support of ConocoPhillips, the Migratory Connectivity Project team makes its annual journey to Mad Island, Texas to study songbirds returning from their tropical wintering grounds.
