History
The Los Angeles Refinery (LAR) has been a proud supporter of Community Advisory Councils (CAC) since 1995. Meetings are held at the refinery on a quarterly basis and the CAC is comprised of approximately 20 community leaders, school principals and staff, public safety, elected officials, nonprofit organizations and homeowners' associates surrounding the two refineries in Carson and Wilmington. LAR's Community Leaders Forum has been instrumental in helping disseminate information to stakeholders. Every quarterly breakfast forum meeting features a brief presentation on refinery operations, a health and safety message, community relations update, question and answer session, and an opportunity for each community leader to talk about their own activities.

Recent Accomplishments
Achievements include expanded refinery tour offerings and school presentations resulting from suggestions that the community is interested in knowing more about ConocoPhillips’ facilities. Community leaders provide assistance in outreach efforts that have an impact on refinery operations and also have been active participants in proposed regulatory reforms.

Senior management makes a presentation at every meeting.
