Trainer Workshop

TRAINER, PENNSYLVANIA WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS

ConocoPhillips and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project continued their series of energy education workshops at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit in Trainer, Pa., on June 3. Thirty-three teachers, including some from New Jersey as well as Pennsylvania, attended the event to learn more about methods of incorporating energy awareness in the classroom.

Keith Etheridge, training director for NEED, led the one-day event, which provided the K-12 teachers with information about different forms of energy and the energy industry. Teachers conducted hands-on experiments and took home energy information, curriculum materials and science kits to use in their classes and share with colleagues.

ConocoPhillips representatives Bill Tyson, community relations coordinator, and John Ponticello, Trainer refinery manager, spoke to the group and answered questions about current energy issues.

The Pennsylvania event was the fourteenth of 24 planned in 2008, in an effort by ConocoPhillips and NEED to reach out to teachers and increase awareness about the significance of energy education.
