ROXANA, ILLINOIS WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS
ConocoPhillips and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project hosted their twelfth energy education workshop in Roxana, Ill. on May 15.
Forty-four teachers from across the state attended the workshop, where they spent the day learning about different energy sources and their impact on today’s society and economy. Six hands-on energy experiments helped the K-12 teachers to better understand forms of energy – such as chemical, thermal and kinetic energy – while presentations from NEED trainers provided teachers with creative ideas to share their newly learned skills with students.
By providing Illinois teachers with training and curriculum materials on both conventional and emerging energy sources, the workshop enables teachers to begin a dialogue about energy and its future challenges with their students.
ConocoPhillips will host a total of 24 energy workshop across the United States during 2008.
