Farmington Workshop

FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS

ConocoPhillips and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project continued their effort to educate teachers about energy at their energy workshop in Farmington, N.M. on September 18. Thirty-five elementary, middle and high school teachers from across the state attended the event to learn more about energy and methods of incorporating energy awareness in the classroom.

NEED’s energy education trainer Vernon Kimball taught teachers about different forms of energy, the importance of conservation and the energy industry. Teachers conducted hands-on experiments and took home energy information, curriculum materials and science kits to use in their classes and share with colleagues.

John Zent, manager of San Juan projects development for ConocoPhillips, gave a presentation on how ConocoPhillips is working to secure our energy future through energy diversification, efficiency, innovation and environmental responsibility.

The Farmington workshop was the seventeenth of 24 planned in 2008, in an effort by ConocoPhillips and NEED to help teachers educate their students about energy.
