BELLE CHASSE, LOUISIANA WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS
ConocoPhillips and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project hosted their ninth energy education workshop in Belle Chasse, La. on May 6.
Thirty-three K-12 teachers from Belle Chasse and surrounding communities participated in the one-day workshop that supplied them with energy information, curriculum materials and science kits to pass on to their students and fellow educators.
Betsy Brein, public affairs director for ConocoPhillips Alliance refinery, welcomed teachers and provided an overview of the company’s local operations.
The teachers spent the remainder of the day with trainers from NEED and learned how they can incorporate energy into their classroom through interactive science experiments and games.
Teachers welcomed the opportunity to learn more about energy and were excited to bring the energy information and experiments back to their students.
ConocoPhillips will host a total of 24 energy workshops across the United States during 2008.
