Wilmington on Energy

Approximately 150 residents from communities throughout northern Delaware gathered in Wilmington on Wednesday, July 18, to discuss the state’s and nation’s energy future. Co-hosted by ConocoPhillips and the Delaware Public Policy Institute, the town hall meeting called on residents to share their views on energy issues and gain insight and information from a panel of experts. With support from 16 community partners – including Delaware Manufacturing Association, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Inc., and Delaware Greenways – business leaders, key industry influencers and concerned citizens came together to exchange ideas on viable ways to secure the future of U.S. energy.

Jim Mulva, chairman, president and chief executive officer, and Lou Burke, manager, biofuels, represented ConocoPhillips on the panel. Other panelists included John Hughes, secretary, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; Bill Mortimer, leader, enterprise new business development, W.L. Gore & Associates; and Jim Wolfe, president & CEO, Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. The meeting was moderated by John Taylor, executive director, Delaware Public Policy Institute (DPPI).
