Jackson on Energy

Energy alternatives, research and development, conservation, education, and national policy were among the issues discussed at a recent town hall meeting in Jackson, Miss. More than 200 residents gathered at the Regency Hotel & Conference Center on March 22, 2007, to question, comment or offer solutions regarding the nation’s growing energy appetite.

“A Conversation on Energy Jackson,” co-hosted by ConocoPhillips, Jackson State University, and Millsaps College, provided residents an opportunity to talk to local energy, business, and environmental experts along with ConocoPhillips executives.

Distinguished panelists included Bill Berry, ConocoPhillips executive vice president; Merl Lindstrom, ConocoPhillips general manager, research and development, Dr. Bill Batchelor, Mississippi State University Sustainable Energy Research Center co-director and MSU representative for 25x’25; Robbie Fisher, The Nature Conservancy Mississippi Chapter state director; and Blake Wilson, Mississippi Economic Council president. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Ronald Mason, Jackson State University president.
