More than 330 residents from the Denver-metro area recently attended a lively town hall meeting featuring a discussion on current energy issues facing Colorado and our nation. The “Conversation on Energy” meeting was hosted by the Colorado School of Mines and ConocoPhillips on May 23rd at the Sheraton Denver West in Lakewood. It featured a diverse group of Colorado residents who exchanged ideas regarding conservation, energy security, alternative fuels, and diversification of our energy sources with a panel of experts from across the energy and environmental spectrum.
The panel was led by moderator Dr. Bill Scoggins, president of Colorado School of Mines, a national leader in engineering research and education. Dr. Scoggins was joined by two panelists representing ConocoPhillips – Bob Ridge, vice president of Health, Safety and Environment, and Merl Lindstrom, general manager of Research and Development. The panel also featured Preston Gibson, president and CEO, Jefferson Economic Council; Dale Gardner, associate director for Renewable Fuels, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL); and Will Coyne, land use advocate, Environment Colorado.
