Residents from communities throughout Madison County, Ill., responded with great enthusiasm to the invitation to a town hall meeting to discuss energy issues. More than 200 were in attendance for “A Town Hall Meeting: A Conversation on Energy,” co-hosted by ConocoPhillips and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
In addition to the two panelists representing ConocoPhillips – Jim Gallogly, executive vice president, Refining, Marketing and Transportation, and Sabrina Watkins, manager, Environmental Technology – representatives from local and statewide organizations were invited to serve on the panel and share their positions on energy. They were Darryl Brinkmann, District 16 director for the Illinois Farm Bureau, Jim Ross, manager, Division of Air Pollution Control, Bureau of Air, Illinois EPA, and Susan Stauder, vice president, Infrastructure and Public Policy for the St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association. The meeting was moderated by Dr. Paul Ferguson, provost and vice chancellor, Academic Affairs, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
