Approximately 325 residents from communities throughout mid-Missouri gathered in Columbia on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, to discuss the state’s and nation’s energy future. The Conversation on Energy town hall meeting, the 30th stop for ConocoPhillips on a nationwide listening tour, provided an opportunity for guests to share views on energy issues and gain insight and information from a panel of experts.
Gene Batchelder, senior vice president, Services, and CIO, and Merl Lindstrom, general manager, Research and Development, represented ConocoPhillips on the panel. Other panelists included Floyd Gilzow, deputy director for public policy, Missouri Department of Natural Resources; Katie Smith, director, Missouri Department of Agriculture; and James Fischer, founder, Fischer and Associates. The meeting was co-moderated by University of Missouri-Columbia's Dr. Thomas L. Payne, vice chancellor and dean, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural resources, and Dr. James E. Thompson, dean, College of Engineering.
