Energy consumption, conservation, global warming and the health and future of America’s children were among the issues discussed at a recent town hall meeting in Charleston, W. Va. Approximately 240 residents gathered at the Charleston Marriott Town Center on Feb. 1, 2007 to question, comment or offer solutions for the nation’s growing energy appetite.
A “Conversation on Energy,” co-hosted by ConocoPhillips and West Virginia University Institute of Technology, provided residents an opportunity to talk to local energy and environmental experts and ConocoPhillips executives.
Distinguished panelists included Ryan Lance, ConocoPhillips president, exploration and production – Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East; Willie Chiang, ConocoPhillips is senior vice president, commercial; Bill Raney, West Virginia Coal Association president; Sally Smith, Charleston Area Alliance-Business Development Committee chairwoman; Stephanie R. Timmermeyer, West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, cabinet secretary. The discussion was moderated by Charles E. Bayless, WVU Tech president.
