Bismarck on Energy

Bismarck was the setting for a conversation about North Dakota’s and the nation’s energy future on June 20. Religion, politics and the state’s economic future also were part of the dialogue during the town hall meeting hosted by ConocoPhillipsand Bismarck State College. Approximately 300 residents from Bismarck-Mandan and surrounding areas shared their views on energy issues and listened to a panel of experts as a part of the Conversation on Energy Bismarck.

In addition to two panelists representing ConocoPhillips – Phil Frederickson, executive vice president, and Merl Lindstrom, general manager of Research and Development – representatives from local and statewide organizations served on the panel. The panelists included Thomas Erickson, associate director of research, Energy & Environmental Research Center
; Randy Schneider, president, North Dakota Ethanol Producers Association; and Shane Goettle, commissioner, North Dakota Department of Commerce. The meeting was moderated by Gordon Binek, vice president for College Advancement, Bismarck State College.
