About 220 residents from Akron and surrounding areas joined ConocoPhillips at the Crowne Plaza Akron Quaker Square on May 30 for a “Conversation on Energy,” co-hosted by the University of Akron. The town hall meeting, 14th in a 35-city nationwide listening tour, called on residents to share their views on energy issues and to gain insight and information from a panel of experts. The dialogue included perspectives on a variety of energy topics and an extensive question and answer session with the audience.
Moderator Dr. Luis M. Proenza, president of The University of Akron, facilitated the conversation, which included panelists Lionel Batty, vice chairman of the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition; Dale Arnold, director of energy services of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation; Jack Shaner, public affairs director of the Ohio Environmental Council; Jim Gallogly, executive vice president of refining, marketing and transportation, ConocoPhillips; and Sabrina Watkins, manager of environmental technology, ConocoPhillips.
