This 432-acre property – about halfway between Denver and Boulder – presents the opportunity to do this at a prime location and in a campus environment that will foster sharing of knowledge, innovation and creativity.
Will Louisville, Colorado become ConocoPhillips’ headquarters location?
The company has no plans to move its headquarters.
What operations will be located in Louisville?
The property will be used for:
- A corporate learning center. While we currently have a number of excellent internal training programs for employees, we don’t possess a fit-for-purpose training center. We can envision a best-in-class training facility at this site for all employees worldwide.
- A global technology center. There are many new and expanded research and development opportunities that we want to explore further. Our traditional research and development centers in Oklahoma and Texas, while of significant continued importance to us, are not necessarily best positioned to support many of these new R&D growth areas.
Will additional operations be moved to Louisville?
With 432 acres at this location we have plenty of space to consider future options. It will certainly provide us flexibility and alternatives from a facilities standpoint as we look at how best to support the company’s growth.
When will ConocoPhillips begin using the Louisville property?
The very earliest occupancy would be 2011, but 2012 is more likely.
Does ConocoPhillips already have other offices in the Denver area?
Yes, we have approximately 30 employees at a couple of locations in the city. We also have a 50% interest in DCP Midstream, which is headquartered in Denver.
Is ConocoPhillips going to complete additional construction on the east side of the Houston complex?
We have no plans to add office space or additional functionality to the Houston campus. We will, however, continue our program to upgrade and refresh both the outside and inside of the facility.
Will employees have the opportunity to volunteer to relocate to Louisville?
Any decisions such as this are well out in the future.
Where exactly is Louisville?
Louisville is in Boulder County, Colorado, roughly six miles east of the city of Boulder and 25 miles northwest of Denver. The city incorporated in 1882 and has approximately 19,000 residents. Louisville was number three on Money magazine's list of 100 best places to live last year and was number one in the book "Best Places to Raise Your Family: The Top 100 Affordable Communities in the U.S." in 2006.
What is the history of the Louisville property?
It was developed in the 1970s and 1980s by StorageTek, which was purchased by Sun Microsystems in 2005. Sun consolidated operations to a nearby campus. It currently has nine buildings with 700 employees. ConocoPhillips is leasing back to Sun through 2008.
