Burlington Resources Sets Record Date for Special Meeting


Houston, Texas, Feb. 16, 2006 – Burlington Resources Inc. (NYSE:BR) today announced that the board of directors has set February 24, 2006 as the record date for the special meeting where shareholders will vote on the proposed acquisition of Burlington Resources by ConocoPhillips Corporation (NYSE:COP). Shareholders who hold shares of Burlington Resources common stock at the close of business on February 24, 2006 will be entitled to vote on the transaction at the special meeting. The company will set the date of the special meeting at a later time.
