ConocoPhillips Announces Senior Management Changes
HOUSTON, Oct. 1, 2008 --- ConocoPhillips [NYSE:COP] today announced the following actions concerning the company's senior management. Unless otherwise noted, these changes are effective immediately.
Operational Staffing
John Carrig, currently executive vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer, will become president and chief operating officer. He will continue to report to Jim Mulva, chairman and chief executive officer.
Jim Gallogly, currently executive vice president, Refining, Marketing & Transportation, will become executive vice president, Exploration & Production.
Willie Chiang, currently senior vice president, Commercial, will become senior vice president, Refining, Marketing & Transportation.
Greg Goff, currently president, Strategy, Integration and Specialty Businesses for Refining, Marketing & Transportation, will become senior vice president, Commercial.
Ryan Lance will remain president, Exploration & Production – Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Messrs. Gallogly, Chiang and Goff will report to Mr. Carrig, as will Gene Batchelder, senior vice president, Services, and chief information officer; Luc Messier, senior vice president, Project Development; and Bob Ridge, vice president, Health, Safety and Environment. Mr. Lance will report to Mr. Gallogly. All will serve on the company’s management committee.
Corporate Staffing
Sig Cornelius, currently senior vice president, Planning, Strategy & Corporate Affairs (PS&CA), will become senior vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer.
Jeff Sheets, currently vice president and treasurer, will become senior vice president, Planning & Strategy.
Red Cavaney, who will retire from his position as president and chief executive officer of the American Petroleum Institute on Oct. 31, 2008, will become senior vice president, Government & Public Affairs in November 2008.
Fran Vallejo, currently general manager, corporate planning and budgets, PS&CA, will become vice president and treasurer, Finance.
Messrs. Cornelius, Sheets and Cavaney will report to Mr. Mulva, as will Stephen Brand, senior vice president, Technology; Janet Langford Kelly, senior vice president, Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary; and Carin Knickel, vice president, Human Resources. All will serve on the company’s management committee. Ms. Vallejo will report to Mr. Cornelius.
Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer
John Lowe, currently executive vice president, Exploration & Production, has expressed his desire to reduce the scope of his current activities in order to devote more time to his personal interests. Therefore, Mr. Lowe will now serve as assistant to the chief executive officer. In this new role, Mr. Lowe will assist in the transition of his current duties, continue to represent the company in many of its external relationships and provide assistance on special assignments. Mr. Lowe will continue to work full-time until Jan. 31, 2009. Thereafter, he will be employed by the company on a part-time basis.
