Since 2009, going strong in the Eagle Ford

This is the first in a series of planned videos about ConocoPhillips’ North American assets. Celebrating the completion of 1,000 wells in the summer of 2017, employees from throughout the organization share their thoughts on the Eagle Ford experience.

LOCATED IN SOUTH TEXAS, the Eagle Ford shale trend represents one of ConocoPhillips’ most promising developments. ConocoPhillips was one of the first to the play, starting in 2009 to explore its development potential. The company holds approximately 210,000 net acres in the liquids-rich part of the play and produced 133,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2017.

The company’s Eagle Ford development program is focused on full-field development, using customized spacing and stacking patterns developed through reservoir understanding. Most wells are on multi-well pads at 60- or 80-acre horizontal spacing in high-low or three-layer patterns. By focusing on technology and innovation, the company has improved efficiency and lowered capital and operating costs. ConocoPhillips has produced more than 270 million net barrels of oil equivalent and will continue to build the Eagle Ford into a legacy asset with production expected for years to come.
