Energy for Tomorrow

ConocoPhillips believes the key to a secure energy future is the efficient use of a variety of energy sources. While oil, natural gas and coal will remain vital components of energy supply in the short term, other supplies are needed. These include renewables such as wind and solar power, alternatives such as nuclear power and additional fossil fuels such as oil shale, natural gas hydrates and clean coal. From conventional heavy oil and natural gas, to alternative supplies of energy, the company is working to develop energy sources and new technologies in applications that leverage our expertise and build on existing businesses. Learn how ConocoPhillips is diversifying its energy sources.

A Balanced Approach

ConocoPhillips believes we must continue to balance investment in the search for new technologies and diverse energy sources with responsibility and continued care for the environment.  ConocoPhillips is tending to this balance through our support of a comprehensive national energy policy that addresses both energy security and climate change. Read ConocoPhillips Chairman and CEO Jim Mulva’s speech at the CERAweek energy conference for details. Additionally, ConocoPhillips is a member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, which advocates strong national legislation to require significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Learn More

Energy Education

ConocoPhillips is pleased to partner with the National Energy Education Development Project to provide America’s teachers – and ultimately students – with training and resources on key energy topics. The partnership is designed to equip teachers with tools and information that they can incorporate into daily classroom activities to improve their students’ energy knowledge. By fostering energy education and beginning a dialogue in classrooms across the United States, ConocoPhillips hopes to instill in the country’s youth not only a desire to learn, but also a desire to be proactive about energy issues. Innovation

To help spark innovative thinking on energy issues, we launched the ConocoPhillips Energy Prize, a joint initiative by ConocoPhillips and Penn State that recognizes new ideas and original, actionable solutions that help improve the way the United States develops and uses energy. Later this year, a panel of energy and environmental experts will review the entries and award up to $300,000 in cash prizes.
