ConocoPhillips’ presence in Puerto Rico centers on the company’s Chemicals segment. ConocoPhillips participates in the chemical sector through its 50 percent ownership in Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (CPChem), a joint venture with Chevron Corporation.
The company operates one of its manufacturing facilities in Guayama, Puerto Rico. This facility produces approximately 715 million pounds per year of paraxylene, used almost exclusively to make intermediates in the production of polyester and the synthetic fibers used in swimsuits and high-performance athletic wear.
