John A. Carrig is president and chief operating officer of ConocoPhillips.

Carrig served as executive vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer from 2002 to 2008. He was named senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2001. In 2000, he joined the company’s management committee as senior vice president and treasurer. From 1996 to 2000, he was vice president and treasurer. Carrig served as treasurer in 1995, and assistant treasurer in 1994.

Carrig serves on the board of directors for the American Petroleum Institute and is a member of the Overseers Council for the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University. He serves on the board of directors for the Alley Theatre in Houston and on the board of trustees for the The Awty International School Houston.

Carrig graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1977, he received his law degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, and attended the New York University School of Law, receiving an advanced degree in tax law in 1978.
