Perhaps you've come to this site because you're a curious resident of Wilmington, San Pedro, Lomita, Harbor City or Rancho Palos Verdes.
Perhaps you've driven by the ConocoPhillips refinery on Anaheim Street and noticed the large tower being built on the hill and the blue banners on the oil tanks.
Perhaps you've seen the large plume of steam rising into the sky and wondered exactly what was happening inside.
ConocoPhillips is the first company in Southern California to install a wet gas scrubber on a Fluid Catalytic Cracking unit (FCC), a critical unit in the conversion of heavy oil into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. The equipment replaces the refinery’s existing two dry electrostatic precipitators, which will be removed from service.
We are dedicated to providing a cleaner environment, and we invite you to
learn more about how the wet gas scrubber is helping us do just that.
