Product Stewardship

ConocoPhillips has product stewardship systems to ensure that our products are managed in such a way to protect safety and health, minimize impact on the environment, and which, in the absence of appropriate chemical control and registration laws governing their sale and use, ensures responsible stewardship of the company’s products.

In order to characterize the potential health and environmental hazards of our products, experts within ConocoPhillips routinely monitor the literature for new information on chemical hazards and stay abreast of the latest developments in this area through participation in various trade organizations.

ConocoPhillips is implementing the UN’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for Classification and Labelling of chemicals in our European operations and plans are also underway to implement GHS in the U.S. GHS aims to provide greater global harmonization in both the classification of hazards and in the communication of those hazards by using consistent warning phrases and symbols on product labels.
