ConocoPhillips' Bayway refinery in Linden, New Jersey, has a proud history that goes back 100 years. An engine of Northeast economy, Bayway has the strength, skill and vision to fuel one of the most concentrated consumer markets in the world. It also has one of the best emergency response and rescue teams in the industry. In fact the team has won national competitions four times in the past six years - finishing second the two years they did not win. 

Safety is Bayway’s cornerstone for team building, productivity, profitability and future investment. The team believes that the best insurance policy is to prepare properly and work safely, so the refinery trains employees to identify hazards and mitigate risk before work starts.

“Refining is a very complex business in which a million things have to go right every day in order to achieve minimum acceptable performance – a day when no one gets hurt, we don’t impact the community and we run some barrels,” Bayway refinery manager Mike Kenney said.
