ConocoPhillips believes in the importance of a healthy work force and the benefits that good health can have for employees, their families and the company. We encourage employees to be healthy through preventive medical care, regular exercise and good nutrition. This impacts worker productivity and also can help to reduce health care costs.
The company believes in the importance of preventive health programs and is developing more tools to prevent and address chronic illnesses. For example, our updated health insurance benefits include wellness programs with online assessments and health management resources. After completing the health assessment, the program may suggest one or more voluntary health management programs, offering employees strategies for developing and maintaining good health habits. Health awareness events, exercise facilities and programs and competitive events at many locations serve to better integrate the relationship between fitness and good health.
We also have a robust U.S.-based drug and alcohol test program that is being expanded globally in support of our zero-tolerance philosophy on unauthorized or illegal drug and alcohol use in the workplace. In addition to this education and training program for all employees, health benefits to cover substance abuse evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation are provided in locations where such benefits are available.
