Business Ethics

ConocoPhillips is committed to exemplary ethical behavior by all employees in all aspects of our business, and takes action to promote a work environment in which our business is conducted with integrity. We also work to influence high global standards in business ethics.

Our Code of Business Ethics and Conduct summarizes the standards of ethical conduct and compliance expected of directors, employees, contractors, and other individuals who work on the company’s behalf.

On an annual basis, employees are required to certify their personal compliance with the code, which is available in multiple languages. As a condition of employment, employees are also responsible for reporting suspected violations of ConocoPhillips policies or the law to the company. Several channels are available for reporting concerns, including an Ethics HelpLine, which is accessible 24/7, via the telephone and web. Reports to the Ethics HelpLine may also be made anonymously.

The company’s Chief Compliance Officer provides regular reports to the CEO, as well as to the audit and finance committee of the board of directors. These reports cover the results of annual code certifications, the state of compliance activities and the handling of reported concerns. We are committed to follow through on any findings with measures that address the situation and uphold our standards.

To help employees familiarize themselves with the code and to increase awareness of how and when the code applies to their actions, employees are required to complete an online training course every two years. This course is offered in multiple languages and provides information on ethics and compliance issues, answers frequently asked questions, and includes a self-administered test to assess employees’ understanding of the information.

Additional training courses are recommended or required each year, especially for employees whose work requires training for a particular compliance area, such as anti-corruption, antitrust, economic sanctions, export controls, insider trading, or anti-boycott concerns.
