ConocoPhillips is making substantial investments to improve conventional exploration and production processes.
We continually implement new technologies and conduct research and development related to reservoir imaging, steam-assisted gravity drainage, and carbon capture and sequestration. Additionally, we are using technology to overcome the challenges of recovering oil and natural gas occurring in unconventional forms, such as oil sands, heavy oil, coalbed methane, oil shale and natural gas hydrates.
In many cases, these unconventional hydrocarbons have until recently been too expensive to produce and bring to market. We are employing new technologies with the goals of extracting these resources more effectively; reducing development costs, and minimizing the environmental impact of development and production.
