ConocoPhillips holds interests in three main oil fields located in Block 405a in Algeria. All crude oil production is transported to northern Algerian ports where it is lifted to tankers and marketed primarily to refineries in Europe and North America.

The Ourhoud Field is the largest Algerian oil field with foreign partner participation. First oil was achieved in 2002. Development drilling continued in 2009 with the completion of four producing wells.
El Merk (EMK)

Co-venturers: Sonatrach (37.7%), Anadarko (18.1%), ConocoPhillips (16.9%), Eni (9.1%), Talisman (9.1%), Maersk (9.1%)
The El Merk Project was sanctioned in 2009 and is in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) execution. The field will be produced through the El Merk Facility, with first production expected in 2012.
