Rand C. Berney is senior vice president, Corporate Shared Services, for ConocoPhillips.

Berney began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1981 as a senior staff accountant in controllers for exploration and production. After holding various financial management positions in exploration and production, gas and gas liquids and corporate tax, he was named associate tax officer in 1992, assistant treasurer in 1993, assistant controller in 1995, and general auditor in 1996. He was vice president and controller from 1997 until being named to his current position in 2009.

Berney is a certified public accountant, a certified management accountant and a certified internal auditor. He is a member of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, the Financial Executive Institute, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Institute of Management Accountants. He also serves on the executive committee of the Kansas State University Foundation and on several boards including Arvest Bank, Bartlesville Community Foundation, Frank Phillips Foundation, Mary Martha Outreach and the Oklahoma Business Roundtable.

Berney was born in 1955 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1977 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and serves on the university’s Business Advisory Council. In 1985, he received a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University.
